Acids and Bases
Acids are chemical substances that, in aqueous solution, exhibit a sour taste, turn blue litmus red, and react with bases and certain metals (e.g., calcium) to produce salts. Bases, in contrast, are substances that feel slippery in aqueous solution, have a bitter taste, turn red litmus blue, and react with acids to form salts; they also facilitate base-catalyzed reactions. Bases available in different grade of purity.
